CV Reinhard Oesterle

Reinhard Oesterle is a San Francisco (USA) based Associate Partner.

He is a founding partner at Crosswave Management, a management and venture capital firm that connects innovation hubs in the U.S., Europe and Israel with the emerging markets of Asia, particularly China.

Reinhard is a corporate strategist with more than 20 years of experience in the life sciences industry. He has held senior positions with several organizations including Roche, Bayer, Cerus and Walden International.

Reinhard has broad expertise in business development, strategic planning, marketing and market research and has been involved in several high-profile corporate transactions, including a $25 Million biotech spin-off funded by Versant, Sofinnova and KPCB and the $60+ Million acquisition of a specialty pharma company in China.

Also a successful venture capital investor, Reinhard was instrumental in leading the Series B round of funding in Plexxikon, which was subsequently acquired for more than $900 Million.

Prior to joining Crosswave Management, Reinhard oversaw business development at SciClone Pharmaceuticals, where he played a key role in the company’s transformation from a small R&D-based biotech into a profitable China-focused specialty pharmaceutical company. 

Reinhard holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Göttingen (Germany) and received his MBA from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business.
