Michael Franek is Board Member & Senior Advisor based in Bamberg (Germany).

Michael brings close to 40 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical marketing and several senior business development roles to ActeaVentures. He specializes in assisting life science companies in Europe - with a focus on Germany - in their licensing, partnering and M&A activities. Michael is working as an independent advisor heading his own consulting firm for nearly 20 years. He has a special focus on M&A, strategic advice and in- and out-licensing. In his consultant role Michael has successfully managed various M&A projects and executed numerous licensing agreements for international as well as mid-sized pharmaceutical companies in Germany and Europe.

Prior to founding “Franek Et Partner GbR Consulting (Pharma)” in 1995, Michael has worked for two decades in several functions in the pharmaceutical industry. He held the position of Marketing & Sales Director (reporting to GM/owner of the company) at Dr.R.Pfleger chemische Fabrik GmbH, Germany, as well as at Temmler Pharma GmbH, Germany, a privately owned pharmaceutical company specialized in the area of gastrointestinal and pulmonary diseases. Prior to these assignments Michael held the positions of Group Product Manager for injectables in the hospital market at Eli Lilly, Germany and Group Manager for anti-infective, anti-asthmatic and cancer products at Abbott, Germany.

Michael has a strong track record of leading complex business development and partnering projects in the life science industry. He has excellent connection within the German and European life sciences business environment and is a highly reliable and effective business partner applying the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct to all of his projects.

Michael holds a Ph.D. (1974) in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University (RWTH) of Aachen, Germany and a MSc in Chemistry from the TU of Bratislava, CSFR.
